The 4th Annual Internet Retailer Conference, sponsored by Internet Retailer Magazine took place June 9 – 12 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. The theme of this year's agenda was "Web Merchants Dive into the Mainstream," which highlighted the competitive, marketing and technological trends defining an e-retailing industry that is changing the way America shops.

This year’s conference featured two keynote addresses. The first was “E-retailers dive into the mainstream: How J.C. Penney did it—and why,” delivered by Mike Boylson, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at J.C. Penney. The second was “A mainstream strategy for a web-only retailer,” delivered by Neel Grover, president of Buy.com.
