Project Manager
Description:
The PM acts as the primary liaison to the client during the life cycle of contracted development projects, providing operational management of the assigned technical team. Has primary responsibility for driving development projects to successful completion. Oversee and direct the work of various project teams.
Responsibilities:
- Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
- Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
- Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
- Effectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.
- Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
- Minimizes our exposure and risk on project.
- Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
- Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
- Manages project budget
- Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
- Holds regular status meetings with project team.
- Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
- Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
- Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
- Review and compare competing products on a regular basis and communicate market needs and customer satisfaction issues.
- Collaborate with the Director of the PMO to identify, develop, and implement the use of industry leading best practices in Project Management.
- Collaborate with the Divisional VP of Application Development on staffing recommendations for team, determining if members of his/her team are satisfying their job responsibilities.
- Supplement the sales process by identifying areas of potential additional sales during project progress and feeding those opportunities to the sales force for pursuit.
Experience Requirements:
- 5 – 8 years experience in a consulting firm with a technical background in software engineering and development.
- 3+ years experience in all facets of the Project Management discipline including the creation of Project Plans, scope management, risk management, change control and budget management.
- Experience in developing proposals, functional requirements, system architecture diagrams, and best practices for technical projects.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams of consultants, application developers and creative staff on technical projects.
- Excellent understanding of business analysis, system analysis, and web technologies.
- Expertise in the full Software Development Life Cycle
- Expertise in various methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, etc…
- Strong Business Analysis skills
- Strong knowledge of Internet technologies (.Net, ASP, IIS etc.)
- Strong knowledge of Database systems ( MS SQL Server, etc.)
- Knowledge of MS Project and/or other Project Management software tools.
- Pre/post sales experience hands-on experience in development and programming a major plus
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree (preferred Computer Science, Information Management, Information Systems)
- Project Management Training. PMI Certification is a Plus.
