Continuous Data Protection and VoIP Top Emerging Technologies for the Legal Community

Industry Leader Sam Collier to Speak at International Legal Technology Association Conference

Fairfax, VA - 2006-08-16

Tape backup will eventually be eliminated for primary data backup, replaced by Continuous Data Protection (CDP) services, making obsolete some Storage Area Network (SAN) and data backup devices, predicts Sam Collier, a founder of Union Square Technology Group and Director at mindSHIFT Technologies, a leading Managed Services Provider (MSP) and professional services firm.

Collier will elaborate on CDP and other industry trends, such as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and the creeping revolution in broadband access technologies, in a presentation at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) conference in Orlando August 21 - 24. Collier’s session, entitled “Emerging Technologies: Industry Trends and Cutting-Edge Solutions”, is scheduled for Thursday, August 24, at 8:30 a.m. at the Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, FL. As a legal integration services expert, Collier will detail the likely impact of these emerging technologies and leading trends on the legal community.

In a special hands-on technology presentation, two other mindSHIFT employees, Silas McCullough and J. Abernethy, will present “Microsoft Sharepoint: Creating Client Portals with SharePoint Technologies” on Wednesday, August 23, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The session will focus on client-facing portals using SharePoint technologies. During the session, McCullough and Abernethy will create a basic client portal web site, incorporate information from various data sources and then present the content in a logical, straightforward manner.

mindSHIFT will highlight its professional services for the legal community and its comprehensive managed service provider offerings at Booth #314 at the ILTA conference.

“Instead of doing a tape backup once every 24 hours, organizations will be able to create a highly granular journal or log of changed data every few minutes if they want to,” Collier predicts. “CDP takes the concepts of data mirroring and data backup and merges them.
